Funkie Junkie Tag 2 - Metal Tag

Hello Friends and Fellow Santa's Helpers!

I am back with another Tag for the Funky Junkie's 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge.  Here is Linda's Tag 2 which is the inspiration for us this time round......

Isn't it fabulous!!  Here is mine....

A bit of a manly and metallic tag this time using metal foil tape as the background and giving it a look of rivets and things.  The metal was inked with Alcoholic inks and then rubbed with wire wool.  You have NO idea how much I dislike the feel of wire wool.  You may recall this is Tim Holtz' technique for his September Tag.

This ticket I printed out a few years ago when my friend was in my craft room....it is her stamp.  I remembered it was in the bottom of my Snippet tin.  The Santa was coloured in using Distress Marker pens and a water brush.  The Snowflakes are from a grungeboard set by Mr Holtz and the gears were cut using grungeboard and a TH die, coloured with Rusty Hinge and Walnut Stain DI and embossed with Rusty Hinge Distress Embossing powder.  The top one was painted with Acrylic dabber paint.
A few little Idealogy gears, some glitter (it is Christmas after all) and some tinsel and hey presto one tag.  I may just use this idea for my Brother's Christmas card!
Thanks for calling by and don't forget you can still join in with the Challenge which is being sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I love your take on number 2, with that wonderful Father Christmas taking centre-stage - or centre-cog, anyway! Fabulous masculine, metallic look to it.

Don't go out of your way to the Range just for those frames I used - I'm sorry to say they were selling them off a couple of months ago; wouldn't want you to have a wasted 80 mile journey!!

Love how you used Santa in the center of that cog! Fabulous with that background. I agree with you about that steel wool...feels weird in your hand.

Its lovely - I have been putting all my tags left over from last year onto cards this weekend (I made 18 cards in a morning! who would have thought I would have had that many Christmas tags left over from 2011!). I still havent joined in with the FJ challenge - not sure I will now - where has the time gone???

Love both tags, Sam, and yours is one that would be perfect to give to a man but I'm sure there are plenty females that would like it too :) Your blog makeover is fabulous ... cheerfully Christmassy and you've even got a little snowfall going on too. Elizabeth xx

First of all when did you change your blog...It looks GREAT! So Christmasy!
Don't know if that is a word but it looks great.
Your tag is fabulous. What a wonderful masculine feel to it. That Santa image is my all time favourite. When i see any image similar to that face in the stores, i am drawn to them like a magnet!
Love all the cogs and textured andaged metallic feel to this tag.
Your brother is a lucky guy!

Your riveted metal background came out terrific (well worth the trauma of using wire wool). I really like that you made it blue - makes it look very Christmas-y. That's a terrific vintage Santa image too. Super work on Tag #2!
